Adam Fath is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP #10906) serving clients in Norwich and across Oxford County. In-person sessions are available in Mount Elgin, and secure virtual therapy is offered throughout Ontario.

Norwich is a community shaped by the land -- by farming families who have worked the same fields for generations, and by a culture that was literally built on Quaker values of quiet resilience and inner discipline. That heritage runs deep, and it shows up in the therapy room in a specific way: people here are often exceptionally good at enduring difficulty, and exceptionally reluctant to admit they're struggling.
Rural life in Oxford County carries its own particular weight. The geographic reality of living outside of town -- surrounded by farmland, far from neighbours, without the casual social contact that city life provides -- can make loneliness easy to ignore until it isn't anymore. When things are hard, there's often no one nearby to notice, and the culture doesn't invite talking about it anyway.
That's not a character flaw. It's the environment. But suffering alone isn't the same as strength, and therapy offers something different: a private, structured space where you can say the things you've been carrying -- without it getting back to anyone, without being a burden, and without being judged for needing it.
Therapy is not about fitting you into a predetermined framework. It is about creating a space where you can explore your experiences, understand the patterns that shape your life, and discover what meaningful change looks like for you.
My approach emphasizes genuine connection, careful listening, and collaborative exploration. Together, we work at a pace that respects your comfort while gently encouraging growth.

Someone might begin therapy feeling overwhelmed by constant work pressure and unable to relax even during quiet moments. In therapy we might explore the patterns behind that stress and develop ways to create healthier boundaries between professional responsibilities and personal wellbeing.
Someone in a farming family who has quietly reached a breaking point. The cycle of planting and harvest doesn't pause for how you're feeling, and when you're on a rural property with long days and few conversations that go deeper than the weather or the yield, it's easy to feel completely alone even with people around. Burnout in farming isn't often talked about as burnout -- it's just "a tough season" or "what you signed up for." But the exhaustion, the numbness, the sense that nothing you do is ever finished -- that's real, and it's worth taking seriously.

The practice is located at 20 Berardi Crescent in Mount Elgin -- about a 15 to 20 minute drive from Norwich, heading northeast through Oxford County on County Road 30 and County Road 14. The route takes you through open farmland the whole way, and the office itself is in a quiet residential setting with free parking right at the door. If making the drive doesn't work for you, virtual sessions are available and work just as well. A lot of clients from rural areas find virtual therapy easier to start with -- no travel time, no scheduling around road conditions, and just as much privacy. You can always switch to in-person later if you'd like, or use a mix of both.
Norwich Township residents have access to both in-person therapy at the Mount Elgin practice and virtual sessions -- providing genuine privacy and professional support for those living in rural Oxford County.
Private psychotherapy isn't the right fit for every situation, and some circumstances call for a different kind of support. If you're in crisis or need immediate help, these Norwich-area resources are available:

Community mental health programs.
Free referrals to mental health, addictions, and crisis services across Ontario.
For all emergencies, please call 911.
