Adam Fath is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP #10906) serving clients in Aylmer and across Oxford County. In-person sessions are available in Mount Elgin, and secure virtual therapy is offered throughout Ontario.

Aylmer is a town with a genuinely distinct character -- and that shapes what brings people to therapy in ways that aren't common elsewhere in the region. The Old Order Amish and Mennonite communities who have called this area home for generations bring a cultural fabric that many Aylmer residents, whether part of those traditions or not, live alongside and are shaped by. In communities where stoicism, faith, and tight-knit social ties are central values, the idea of talking to a stranger about your inner life can feel foreign -- or even disloyal. That doesn't mean people aren't struggling. It means they've often been struggling quietly for a long time before they reach out. If you would like a clearer sense of how therapy is approached, you can learn more about my therapeutic approach.
The town is also still finding its footing after decades of tobacco industry decline. When Imperial Tobacco closed in 2007, it didn't just take jobs -- it shifted Aylmer's economic identity. The manufacturing sector and agricultural work that have filled that gap come with their own pressures: physical demands, seasonal uncertainty, and a working culture where pushing through is the norm. For a lot of people here, getting help feels like admitting you can't handle it. Therapy is a place to challenge that story. If you would like a better sense of the concerns I commonly help with, you can learn more about working with me here. If you would like to review practical details before reaching out, you can view fees and insurance information here. If you feel ready to take the next step, you can reach out here to schedule a confidential consultation.
Therapy is not about fitting you into a predetermined framework. It is about creating a space where you can explore your experiences, understand the patterns that shape your life, and discover what meaningful change looks like for you.
My approach emphasizes genuine connection, careful listening, and collaborative exploration. Together, we work at a pace that respects your comfort while gently encouraging growth.

Someone might begin therapy feeling overwhelmed by constant work pressure and unable to relax even during quiet moments. In therapy we might explore the patterns behind that stress and develop ways to create healthier boundaries between professional responsibilities and personal wellbeing.
Someone raised in a traditional Mennonite family who has started questioning what they actually want -- not rejecting where they came from, but feeling the pull of two different ways of living. There's guilt in that. There's grief, too. Therapy can be a space to hold that tension without being pushed toward any particular answer. You don't have to choose between your background and your own wellbeing -- but you do deserve a place to think it through honestly.

The practice is located at 20 Berardi Crescent in Mount Elgin -- about a 20 to 25-minute drive northwest from Aylmer, heading out on Highway 3 and cutting up through local roads toward Oxford County. It's a straightforward rural drive with free parking right at the door. The office is in a quiet residential setting -- nothing clinical about it. If the drive doesn't work for you, virtual sessions are available and work just as well. A lot of clients from Aylmer prefer to start that way, especially if privacy feels important in a small town where you might know the person parked next to you.
Aylmer residents can access therapy through in-person sessions at the Mount Elgin practice or secure virtual appointments -- with virtual offering added privacy for those in a close-knit community.
Private psychotherapy isn't the right fit for every situation, and some circumstances call for a different kind of support. If you're in crisis or need immediate help, these Aylmer-area resources are available:
